Mamava: A "Big Idea That Might Change The World"

Feburary, 16, 2019

CEO Sascha Mayer shares the inspiration behind Mamava—and other important lessons she's learned starting a business—in Christina Warner’s series: “Big Ideas That Might Change The World In The Next Few Years.”

Too many breastfeeding moms aren’t given the support and accommodations they need to reach the breastfeeding recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics. So Mamava was created from a place of experience and empathy by co-founders Sascha Mayer and Christine Dodson, working moms who both struggled to find adequate places to pump.

Mayer shares five lessons she’s learned starting a business:

  1. Business isn’t math; it’s actually really creative.

  2. There is crying in baseball.

  3. Choose your first employees wisely.

  4. Don’t hide your idea for fear someone might steal it.

  5. Perfection is the enemy of progress.
