In 1993 the State of North Carolina enacted Code § 14-190.9 allowing nursing mothers the right to breastfeed their children anywhere in they are otherwise permitted to be. However, this law also states that the mother may not be in violation of indecent exposure laws. North Carolina has yet to pass any laws at the statewide level specifically for nursing mothers in the workplace.
